In coordination with the Black Catholic Ministries office (www.obcm-no.org), the CYO Office provides services specific to the African-American Catholic experience. The office also periodically sponsors other gatherings for African-American Catholic teens from around the Archdiocese, and for their youth ministers, often in collaboration with the Office of Black Catholic Ministries. Contact the Office of Black Catholic Ministry at (504) 861-6207, for more information.
This is a youth & young adult leadership team made up of youth from the Black Catholic parishes and high schools in the Archdiocese.
Meaning, "what's the news?" this annual leadership retreat brings together traditional African leadership principles with the vibrancy of the Catholic faith in order to provide formation for young people living and worshipping in an African-American Catholic environment. Content includes the historical experience of the Black Catholic Church in the United States. Habari Gani will next be held in April 17-19, 2015.
This event is an opportunity for all youth, young adults, and all those who are young at heart to come together and praise the Lord in the Black Catholic worship style. This event usually takes place the 2nd Sunday of Lent at one of our local churches.
